What To Wear With: Leathers

Just as no two people are the same, Autumn begins at different times for different people. For some, it might be the first day you find yourself back doing the school drop off, the first aesthestic picture of leaves on the ground, or the first time it's deemed officially acceptable to re-watch Hocus Pocus. But for the GTT Team, it's when we first find ourselves announcing that we're swapping out our summery distressed denim for our leathers.

If you've followed us for a while, you're sure to know that leathers are our go-to every year. This is one style that we're glad to welcome back into our wardrobes every year, for the simple reason that they never go out of style. Whether you're opting to get a new pair every year, or are still holding onto that pair that you got in 2019 and still LOVE, this is the one style that we find ourselves reaching for regularly. Here are some of our favourite ways to rock our leathers year in, year out!

Another reason that we're always excited for the return of Autumn fashion? Cosy knits! From longline cardigans, to oversized jumpers, to a classic jumper dress, knitwear has held a well deserved special place in our hearts for years. However, when we're talking about leathers, a fluffy jumper has been our tried and true go-to for years.

Not only does this outfit tick the most important box by combining comfort and style (what more could we ever need really?) but the fluffy knit adds an interest to the outfit due to the contrasting fabrics. In addition to this, this style never fails to soften the dramatic edge that a leather legging brings to our wardrobes, making this style perfectly wearable for day to day. This style paired with trainers is one of our favourite options when it comes to a weekend outfit.

Shackets are yet another trend that we've seen coming back every Autumn for the past few years. And we're still loving them just as much as we did in 2020! As this style is more lightweight than other jackets, this is one we've found ourselves wearing all day, simply as another layer, just like we would do with our cardigans and blazers. To shorten the story, any jacket that we can wear at our desk without getting funny looks earns major points from us!

Similar to our knitwear, this is another option to really bring a more casual feel to any outfit, as well as making it seem bang-on-trend and put together. This has been my go-to when looking for something with a minimal effort, maximum impact feel. We've been loving pairing ultra preppy houndstooth styles in particular with our leathers to ready add an element of interest to the outfit and again tone down the edge that a leather legging brings to any outfit.

We've made no secret of the fact that Blazers are one of our favourite ways of creating a boss-babe look with very little effort. While the knitwear and shackets immediately bring a casual feel, blazers are a great way of adding a more formal feel to the drama of leather leggings. This is the perfect approach when looking to incorporate leathers into your work wardrobe, as well as another way of getting plenty of wear out of those blazers that you wore so much over your favourite jeans and day dresses over the summer!

If you're worrying about the formality of the blazer and the edginess of the leather leggings seeming to dramatic, we've been loving pairing these styles with a lace cami top to soften the look and really bring that feminine element.

The best thing about leathers? Perfect for last minute nights out! Listen up girls, the days of worrying about tan, and huddling together, shivering, while waiting on a taxi home are well and truly gone! Remember the drama and edge that we may have mentioned once or twice (or a couple of hundred times!) above? Leathers were absolutely made for nights out when the colder months hit.

And it's partner in crime? A bodysuit of course! Leather look leggings are often more fitted and less bulky than jeans, meaning that when paired with a bodysuit, they really create the most flattering streamlined look. We always feel that this adds a flirty feel to our favourite leggings, not to mention being a super low effort 'fit! Time to flaunt those curves, girls!
