New job on the horizon? First of all, congrats girl! Second of all, we know all about the stress that can come with a new job: adjusting to all new routines and regulations, the feeling of being like the “new girl” in school when you’re arriving into an office full of people that have known one another for years, and the worries about adapting to a new dress code. Although we still haven’t found a way to solve all of those issues (although we can speak from experience and say that it’s at least 10 times easier to walk into an office of your new co-workers when you’re armed with baked goods, just saying!) we think we might have come up with the perfect way to dress to impress for your new job! Now get ready to turn some heads, you've got this!
The saying “dress for the job you want, not the job you have” is a cliché for a reason, and that’s simply because it never seems to fail! It’s always good to get a little bit dressed up for the first day, even if it's just for that little added confidence boost. A simple midi dress like this black knit dress would be perfect. The knit material would make for ultimate comfort here while the faux wrap top and tie at the waist is always a flattering, slimming look and the simple cut and colour is understated and subtle enough to make an effort on your first day of work without seeming like you’re trying to hard!
You can absolutely never go wrong with a blazer when making an effort, this will always add a more formal feel to your outfit for the perfect business casual look. Pair with a dress to add a more feminine feel to the blazer, or with a fitted midi skirt for a more formal look, or even with dark wash jeans for a more casual, laid back look. Whatever way you wear this one, I’m sure you’ll be rocking it!
A blouse is another way to instantly dress up an outfit and add a polished, professional feel to your outfit. This is one of the easiest styles to throw on with any outfit, whether it’s a fitted skirt, dressy trousers or some more laid back jeans. The light colour of this one is also the perfect way to brighten up your wardrobe while the chiffon material puff sleeves make for a super flattering effect on the arms!
When it comes to shoes it can be more difficult as you often find yourself having to choose between comfort and style, however we think we could have found the best of both worlds with these ankle boots. This is the perfect way to elevate your look and to add a more formal, professional feel to any ‘fit. We love them with a dress and tights for a more feminine feel or with fitted trousers and a blazer for the ultimate boss babe look!
Cardigans are one of our go to styles when it comes to work and is the perfect way to add a little bit of warmth, as well as interest to your outfit. This style staple will often smooth the edges of an outfit giving it a softer more relaxed appearance. If you’re still looking to dress up go with a subtle fine knit fitted cardigan or if you want to add a more casual feel to your outfit a longer, more relaxed fit cardigan will do this really well.
In a lot of working spaces jeans can be a no-go, but if you’re able to make jeans a part of your work wardrobe then it’s always a great idea to go for a dressier pair that will be a darker wash with a more fitted style. This will give your outfit the perfect mix between casual comfort and professionalism. Gone are the days of having to compromise your comfort or style!
