There's a Lot to be Said About the Classic LBD (and I mean a lot) This Style Superhero has carried us through many last minute nights out, date nights, and nights where nothing just seems to look right. To put it simply, the LBD has carried our personal style on it's back for years now and honestly deserves a lot more love! But one thing we have noticed is that fashion has become so much more playful in the past two years, and many of our favourite style icons have been injecting their own personality into everything they wear, so the simple Little Black Dress that we've relied on so much just doesn't seem to cut it anymore! We present to you, GTT's very own solution: LBD's, but with a twist!
While we usually associate this style with nights out, it never fails to impress when it comes to day dresses...Exhibit A:This Mini Dress From Ivy Lane! While the colour and button down style is simple enough to rock for that work meeting, the sweet ditsy floral, puff sleeves and frill hem (oh hello, adding volume to the top and bottom of the body for an hourglass silhouette!) add an element of interest to the dress that is so very 2022!
We've been loving puff sleeves lately for a super slimming effect on the arms, as this creates a visual distance between the dress and the arms, so I'm sure you can imagine our
hysteria totally appropriate level of excitement when this mini dress arrived in our office! While this again has the simple cut and neutral colours to make it the perfect versatile LBD, the exaggerated sleeves, frill hem and cut-out effect at the tie neckline help keep this style bang-on-trend!
An LBD with a touch of glitz? Say no more! The cut of this dress is super simple, meaning that the silver straps add the perfect amount of drama to make this dress a real statement without seeming too overpowering, as well as giving you the perfect opportunity to pair with your most glittery silver heels. Meanwhile the jacquard fabric adds an element of detail and interest to really make this dress pop!
The best thing about the LBD is that the style is often so simple and often lends itself to intricate details without making the dress feel too overpowering. Case and Point: This dress from our Pieces Curve Range! The black lace detail adds an element of interest to the outfit while the mesh sleeves lend themselves to the current cut out trend by slightly exposing the arms while still covering them!
