It's a tale as old as time, when wedding season comes around women up and down the country are ordering their dresses, booking hair and makeup appointments, sorting Wedding presents, and arranging babysitters. Only for their partner to turn to them the morning of and actually dare to ask "Where's my shirt?" or even worse, dig out a creased shirt that's honestly been through the trenches from other weddings in the past few years. We know just how stressful it can be not only getting your own outfit sorted, but your partner's fresh 'fit too, so we're here to relieve the pressure with some of our favourite shirt and dress combos. Why not get both outfits sorted in one go?
A navy shirt is always a great option when it comes to occasion wear, while it's neutral enough to pair really nicely with most colours, it's often a welcome change from the classic black or white shirt. We always love this colour paired with pink, this dress from Little Mistress would be perfect! The rose gold in this dress also brings the perfect amount of glamour to your outfit, simply pair with your favourite heels and a blush pink tie for your partner to pull the whole 'fit together!
This red shirt is a real talking point and really deserves a statement dress. Enter: this navy wrap mini dress from Ivy Lane! The navy of this dress is just understated enough to not overpower your partner's red shirt, while the gold foil detailing ensures that you're still turning heads (we can't have the men taking all of the spotlight after all, can we?) And best of all? These colours just so happen to be on opposite sides of the colour wheel so would both really pop when taking that all important Instagram pic (thank you secondary school 1st year art class, I knew you'd come in useful one day!)
White shirts are often a good go to for two very simple reasons:
#1-They always look smart and dressy, that is if they're kept clean throughout the night!
#2-It's no secret that white will look amazing with almost any colour. Not only this, but it's simple enough to allow you to really go all out with a statement dress for a look that won't clash or seem too overpowering when getting those family pictures taken, and it doesn't get much more statement than this red dress from Ivy Lane! Again, this shirt will really make the red colour in your dress pop in such a natural effortless way.
A pink shirt is another controversial statement, and it's one that we will defend with everything we have. This colour looks great with any skin tone and is the perfect way to add a bit of colour into your partner's wardrobe. We usually love this blush pink paired with grey, but how amazing would it look with this silver sequin dress for a real statement look? Nothing says "power couple" like this head turning pairing!
