Just as our summers are dominated mostly by denim, from denim cut-offs to a denim jacket over a casual day dress, our Autumn/Winter wardrobe seems to be bursting full of leather, whether it’s a classic leather jacket or your go-to leather jeans. Leather adds a touch of drama and edginess to your outfit, and can be a great way of expressing yourself and your inner boss babe through your style. However, as leather has been around for a while it can often be seen as boring or dull. However, this year we’re seeing some of our favourite trends getting a leather makeover and have been seeing a major twist on this wardrobe staple!
Firstly, how many people have a leather jacket? My own leather jacket has seen me through so many nights out in the past few years but I feel like it’s in desperate need of a revamp this year. This leather shacket adds a more modern twist to one of our favourite trends from the past few years. This is a little bit more on-trend than a simple leather jacket and would be the perfect statement piece paired with your favourite jeans for a relaxed look!
Leather boots are a must for us every year, whether it’s an edgy biker boot or a dressy over the knee pair, but I’ve been eyeing up this heeled ankle boot ever since it arrived with us a few weeks ago. The cream colour is a nice change from a classic black pair and would be another great statement piece! Ankle boots and a dress are one of our go-to outfits for a more dressy look in Autumn and we can’t wait to pair this pair with our favourite mini dress.
Jeans and trousers have seen a major change in the past year or so, with the skin tight styles that have dominated the past decade being swapped out for a looser, more relaxed fit. And as much as we love our more fitted leathers we’ve been loving these loose fitting trousers for a more on-trend look. These would be amazing paired with a more fitted top for to streamline the look as well as add a feminine feel to the outfit.
In the past few years we’ve been seeing flowy, romantic midi skirts, however with the return of Y2K fashion we’re starting to see the comeback of the iconic mini skirt and we’re loving it! However, the brightly coloured micro-mini’s from the past have gotten a more modern revamp with these leather looks. This adds a slightly more edgy, dramatic feel to such a sweet, feminine wardrobe staple.
Why not incorporate leather into your accessories as well? This leather handbag would be the ideal way to add a pop of colour into your outfit for the perfect personal touch. This would be amazing as another statement piece and would really add interest to a more simple outfit.
