It's a strange time of year...according to the calendar we should be preparing for spring/summer and putting our chunky knits and dark colours away for another year and filling up our wardrobes with pastels and florals in true spring/summer fashion. While according to good old Mother Nature we should be holding onto our cosy winter clothes with all our might. And as much as we love our Autumn/Winter fashion, we're getting a bit tired of it and have been dreaming of our bright, playful spring wardrobes. We're at one of those awkward transitional stages of the year where we find ourselves wanting to wear our spring clothes without spending our days huddled beside the radiator. This calls for one thing and one thing only, transitional outfit inspo!
Coats seem to be a bit of a hot topic this time of year and can completely change the vibe of your outfit. We've been spending the past few months in leather jackets and oversized puffer coats, and we're not ready to give up our favourite layer. It can really take something as simple as swapping your winter coats out for a relaxed denim jacket, a bright blazer or even a pastel puffer coat to keep the comfort of the heavier layers of Autumn/Winter while still bringing a pop of colour to brighten up your outfit.
If a knit jumper and jeans are more your vibe in the winter months (girl, same!) you can still wear your knit jumpers well into the spring by swapping your black jeans for a more summery light wash pair with a retro feel. This will instantly lift and brighten your outfit with one small change. Feeling brave and ready to forgo jeans entirely? We love the look of a knit jumper paired with a midi skirt for a classic, summery feel!
You all know how much we love our knitwear, so I'm sure you can imagine how excited we were to hear that we can still wear this style staple well into the spring, simply by swapping out our chunky knits for a more lightweight fine knit style. And the best part is that not only does this keep us comfortable, bit it's often a more flattering style! While our thicker knit jumpers can often feel too bulky or as if they're drowning the body, our fine knit jumpers will naturally be a bit more fitted and will show off the figure that bit more. (Obviously, you get bonus points here if it comes in a pastel colour. If your clothes remind you vaguely of an easter egg then they're good to go for Spring. We don't make the rules!)
Newsflash: You can still get loads of wear out of your Autumn/Winter dresses simply by pairing with lighter tones accessories to brighten up the outfit! We're huge fans of pairing a jumper with dresses to add that extra little bit of warmth so for example a cream jumper will make the cream floral print of your favourite autumn dress pop and make the outfit seem brighter, while adding a cream handbag to this will make the cream detailing really pop!
Boots are always our favourite way to make an outfit more Autumnal, while trainers are always a foolproof way to make your look spring ready. This immediately adds a more relaxed, summery feel to an outfit and can be paired with jeans or dresses to brighten any 'fit!
Another one of our Winter essentials is a cropped cardigan that can be layered over dresses or tops. But lets not underestimate the true versatility of this piece! As soon as the weather starts getting a little bit warmer we love wearing these cardigans as a top and worn with jeans for a relaxed look!
