How does it feel that 2021 has been the longest year ever while still seeming to have flown by? And what a year it has been! This year we've seen the Free Britney Movement, Squid Games leaving us confused and ti be quite honest a little bit disturbed, and the drama between Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Basset that we were all a little bit too invested in. Whether your looking forward to leaving this year behind you, or want to celebrate the best year of you're life, one thing's for sure: we're seeing 2021 out in style!
Is there anything that screams New Years Eve more than this silver sequin mini dress? We're getting major disco ball styles and are way beyond obsessed with it! One major trend that we've been seeing in fashion this year has been that bigger is better. The old "less is more" mantra has gone well and truly out the window, and this is summer up perfectly in this dress. The belted smock style is super flattering and is a welcome change from the classic bodycon sequin dresses that we've seen in previous years, while the exaggerated sleeves are always a slimming look on the arms. One more thing that we love about this dress has been the comfort, the inside is lined with velvet meaning that the old itchy feeling of sequins is now in the past!
I brought home this Black Satin Midi Dress from Ivy Lane over the weekend and I think it may have ended my lifelong love affair with mini dresses! This style is always flattering as it really does skim over the shape in a really lovely way that hides any lumps or bumps due to the lightweight fabric. This is the ultimate chic option that would look amazing with your favourite heels but also looks fab dressed down with a chunky knit jumper and boots making it such a versatile style. And the best part is that you can go as extra as you want with this dress due to the simple style with all the glitzy jewellery and statement heels!
Looking to combine the two and rock your sequins in a flattering midi dress? Girl we got you! We fell in love with this green sequin dress from Ivy Lane the minute it arrived in our office and I'm sure you can see why! The square neckline is one of our favourite styles as it shows off the collarbones and shoulders while also elongating the torso for a slimming effect on the body. The bodycon style hugs and highlights the curves to give you that hourglass shape and add definition to your body.
Want to go for a satin dress without committing to a midi dress? Girl we've got you! This red mini dress is just as flattering (remember that lightweight material that flows over the body?) while the shorter hemline makes for an elongating effect on the legs. If you want to really put an emphasis on this you can pair with some silver heels to nail that "legs eleven" look! And best of all, things don't get any more festive than this head turning scarlet red tone!
It doesn't get any more wow than this shimmery silver dress from Lavish Alice! One again it features the exaggerated balloon sleeve for a slimming effect on the arms, while the pleated shoulder adds a little bit of volume to the shoulder. The ruching at the waist and hips add definition to the waist and draw the eye to the most narrow part of the body while also hugging your curves to really give you that hourglass shape.
